Unemployment and Income Inequality: Macroeconomic Challenges in the 21st Century
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper aims to examine the macroeconomic challenges posed by unemployment and income inequality in the 21st century, examining the interconnected issues of unemployment and income inequality, focusing on their role as major macroeconomic challenges in the 21st century. Both phenomena have intensified in many countries, driven by factors such as technological advancement, globalization, and structural changes in the labor market.
The paper discusses how persistent unemployment exacerbates inequality and how income inequality, in turn, limits economic mobility, contributing to long-term economic stagnation. Various macroeconomic policies aimed at mitigating these challenges, such as labor market reforms, fiscal policy, and educational programs, are evaluated in the context of their effectiveness in addressing both unemployment and inequality. In addition, the paper discusses the impact of these twin issues on social cohesion and political stability, emphasizing the need for an inclusive and equitable approach to economic development.
